The analysis of a folktale recently recorded in the Araucanian región of southern Chile is presented here. This oral text, recited by a Mapuche native, is a version of Type 302 in the Aame-Thompson's International Index and manifests very well the structural features of the «Wondrous» in the Hispanic-European Folk Tradition. The original versión, accompanied by linguistic notes, is appended to the study.
