This paper analyses the mediatic diffusion of stereotypes about indigenous peoples, and specifically about indigenous women, focusing on two contested cases: the Peruvian TV comedy show La Paisana Jacinta, and the use of Maya women’s image and ethnic dress in a Guatemalan fashion magazine. This research suggests the amplifying effect of these mediatic stereotypes, especially through social networks, on prejudices against indigenous population.
