Vidas en los bordes: una etnografía de la condición fronteriza

Este artículo aborda el problema del arraigamiento en las fronteras estatales y en los bordes sociales a partir de viven-cias de personas migrantes que habitan en campamentos no autorizados en la frontera norte de Chile. A través del análisis etno-gráfico, analizo cómo la experiencia de vivir a través de múltiples fronteras, en lugar de forzar a migrantes sin hogar a habitar en una suerte de exterioridad radical, los sitúa en precarias brechas de intersticios sociales. Exploro cómo las prácticas que tienen lugar en tales zonas de relegación desafían nuestra visión de sus habitantes como «vida nuda» o «desechos humanos» (en térmi-nos de Agamben y Bauman respectivamente) o meramente como sujetos de biopoder. Lo que vemos en cambio es una forma de política de la presencia, que es vital y contingente, la cual muestra no solo la determinación de las personas a aguantar (en el sentido de Povinelli), sino también a ir más allá para hacer reivindicaciones al Estado.
