A new version is presented of the romance Lanzarote y el ciervo de pie blanco, collected in the village of El Argumosín (Asturias). So far very few variations are known in the oral tradition of this rare bailad of the Arturic cycle, namely from the Canary Islands, Almería and Jaén. The formal aspectsd and the story parts are analyzed of the different modern versions, and its probable origin is postulated in the only printed text within the Cancionero de Romances of Martln Nudo (1550).
