This study concerns names of nets on the «Ordenanzas de los cordoneros» (1482) of Seville. The author's aim is to compare this short hand-written text with the printed Recopilacion de las Ordenanças of Seville (1527), the Ordenanças (1632) and the manuscript of the Ordenanzas of Malaga ([1556] 1989). These texts are analyzed in order to fix the form of the words, establish their etymology and trace their history in the development of Spanish. The author also offers some brief notes about other romance languages as aids to the understanding of the form of the words and their meaning.
