This paper explores the circumstances involved in a fieldwork set in the area of Buitrago: A) preliminaries (how the site was chosen, how the funds were got, how first appointments were made), B) documentation (libraries, authors and references of interest), and C) Development of the fieldwork itself: getting into the site, first appointments with informants, methods and strategies used to gather information, and finally problems and Solutions from a personal authobiographic perspective.
