The authors describes the river mills of Castillo Siete Villas and the tide mills of Colindres and Limpias, in eastern Cantabria. These mills exemplify the exhaustive use of natural resources in the región in the Modern period. The authors reconstructs from archival sources the connections among the mills and the historical context of their use. They calls attention to their state of preservation, which is poor, because of human action and the constant ebb and flow of the tide; the mills have been neglected for a long time.
