This text responds to criticism of the epistemological cartography of audiovisual anthropology, emphasizing the descriptive nature that guides the “Cartographies” section and the objective of establishing a synthetic state of the art, valuing the plurality of modes of narration in audiovisual anthropology without making value judgments about each of them. The text plays with Cervantes’ metaphor of giants and windmills, emphasizing how critics interpret giants where there are windmills.
