Without a map or a recipe book. Debate on the epistemological cartography of audiovisual anthropology

Prof. Robles Picón’s epistemological mapping of audiovisual anthropology has awakened the interest of a new generation of anthropologists, digital natives and literate in audiovisual language, who are now increasingly looking for references to embark on the development of new forms of ethnography and to expand the knowledge and applicability of anthropology. However, the map does not always need to establish strict boundaries or inevitable routes. This short essay discusses some positions of cartography and proposes a debate on how to renew an increasingly necessary sub-discipline.
