Abstract

The author reviews the history of the documented versions of the «The Unfaithful Widow» theme, from Phaedrus' Latin fables and Petronius' Satyricon through the Medieval exempla and collections of fables to the oral narratives published since the 19^th century. He finishes with a Galician folktale, unknown by international as well as Spanish students of folklore.
