La ciudad desdibujada. Aproximaciones antropológicas para el estudio de la ciudad

Resumen


Según la revisión de Setha M. Low (1996) sobre la antropología de las ciudades, hay dos aspectos que destacan en la literatura reciente: “¿por qué se ha teorizado tan poco sobre la ciudad en antropología? y ¿por qué apenas se oye la voz de los antropólogos en los estudios urbanos y en los discursos sobre políticas urbanas?”. Cuanto más sabemos sobre las ciudades desde una perspectiva antropológica, menos dibujadas están las ciudades que estudiamos. Este artículo trata de contestar, desde una perspectiva personal, dichas preguntas. Tanto el desarrollo histórico de la antropología urbana, como el surgimiento de nuevas formas urbanas complejas y sus modos de conceptualizarlas están relacionadas con la situación actual de la disciplina.
